We were not sure about having our almost 16-year-old dog Sam looked after somewhere else because he is used to being dogged-sit at home. Knowing Svenja's fantastic work, we thought he would need to be around other dogs after his sister passed away last year. We got our Sam back happy, relaxed and full of energy, I would almost say "rejuvenated" because he was stimulated and loved. In addition to the emotional aspect, Svenja explains fascinating things about dogs behavior and the dynamics of a pack. The animals are happy, surrounded by nature in an absolutely beautiful place and sleep in Svenja's house or on her terrace, up to them(the space is closed off by a fence at night). The daily routine is adapted to the dog's age, and Svenja took the time to feed him, cuddle him a lot, brought him for a little walk at night as she feels he needed to. An old dog needs more care, and we are very happy and grateful to be able to entrust our Sam to Svenja and the young woman she trains (I'm sorry I don't remember her name), who is also extremely kind. Happy Buddy exudes energy and love, in addition to great skills in caring for animals while respecting their nature. We will leave Sam with Svenja from time to time, not only when we need to, because it is very good and stimulating for him. You will not be able to find a better dogsitter for your furry friend,

Wir haben die liebe Svenja kennengelernt, als unsere Hündin noch ein kleiner Welpe war. Svenja und ihr Pack sind so ein wunderbares Team, das hat man direkt gemerkt. Wir haben uns dort total wohl gefühlt und wussten dort sind Tier und Mensch wohl aufgehoben. Deshalb war, als wir gemerkt haben, dass wir etwas Hilfe mit unserer mittlerweile 3 Jährigen Hundedame brauchten, klar, dass Svenja die richtige Adresse ist. Via Videocall haben wir ihr unsere Probleme geschildert und in ein paar Sitzungen so viele wertvolle Tipps und so viel Ermutigung erhalten, dass wir schnell Besserung feststellen konnten und wussten, es gibt’s nichts woran man nicht arbeiten kann. Und falls wir unsicher sind und Fragen haben, wissen wir, wir können uns jederzeit bei Svenja melden. Das gibt Sicherheit und man fühlt sich gesehen. Danke Svenja 🧡🧡🧡

We’d like to share our wonderful experience of the dog retreat at Happy Buddy Algarve.

Our Rafeiro de Alentejo, Meilo, didn’t always make life easy for us. Having strangers over to our home was very difficult for him – he always had to be kept in a separate area. Encounters with other dogs on the lead were often tense too, as his insecurity meant he’d quickly react aggressively. We were aware that his behaviour stemmed from insecurity, and that was exactly where we wanted to start.
Svenja gave us a good feeling right from the start. After two trial days, Meilo was finally allowed to stay at the Dog Retreat for 9 days so that she could really get to know him and work with him specifically. An incredible amount has happened during this time: he became increasingly confident and relaxed within the pack. We were particularly impressed that by the end he was even able to accept Svenja’s visitors – even though he had initially defended her grounds very territorially.
After his stay, we had two additional training sessions included, during which Svenja gave us lots of valuable tips for everyday life with Meilo. This help is priceless to us. With every small step forward, we notice how the bond between us and Meilo is growing. We are developing together, and I have learnt to better understand and strengthen his trust.

Happy Buddy dog retreat was just what our Honey needed. She was able to bond with the pack and learned so much from them. She came home open to learning. The most important part was the human(us) training. It has helped us bond with Honey, and increased our understanding of what Honey needs. We are now able to go on long and short walks with Honey, training her to pay attention to us, and bond with her. It was a great experience all around, and would highly recommend Happy Buddy to anyone with a dog!

Happy Buddy is Leon’s second home and his extended family. Whenever I need to travel for work I know he’s welcome to stay over and I can rest easy as Svenja has my full trust to take care of him and spoil him with endless walks, cuddles and nature time!

Happy Buddy is a great place for your dog. My dogs go there all the time and love it! They can walk around on a big piece of land, play with other dogs when they want to and go on long walks and of course get love from Svenja. Svenja will always think of the dogs first, take such good care of them if they are her own, and let them be who they are and give the dogs what they need. Absolutely a wonderful place for your dog(s)!
